Prevalence of HBV infection and virus genotypes in Yao population of Ruyuan area,Guangdong province

Abstract:
Objective To explore the prevalence of hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection in Yao population in Ruyuan area of Guangdong province and to investigate the correlation between HBV genotypes and clinical disease spectrum.Methods Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was used to detect HBV markers of 665 Yao and 589 Han residents. Microboard nucleate molecular hybridization ELISA was used to detect HBV genotype among 97 cases with different clinical types of HBV infection.Results The HBsAg positive rate of Yao population(20.3%)was higher than that of Han population(13.4%)and a significant higher rate was found in the males than in the females(25.81% vs 13.22%,P<0.05). Among the 97 HBV patients of Yao,genotype B took up the highest proportion(52.58%,51/97),followed by genotype C (36.08%,35/97).Totally 7 cases of mixed genotype(4 cases of B/C,3 cases of C/D,2 cases of genotype A and D)were detected.The proportion of genotype B was higher than that of genotype C(52.94% vs 25.71%,P<0.05)in asymptomatic carriers,whereas genotype C was higher than genotype B(62.85% vs 27.45%,P<0.05)in mild or moderate chronic hepatitis B.There were no significant differences in HBV infection of other clinical types.Conclusion The HBsAg positive rate of male Yao persons in Ruyuan was higher than that of Han population.Genotype B was the main type of HBV in the area,followed by genotype C.No genotype E or F was detected.
Analysis of long-term immune effect of hepatitis B vaccine for newborns in Guangzhou city

Abstract:
Objective To analyze long-term immune effect of hepatitis B vaccine(HepB)and its influence factors in new borns.Methods With multistage randomized cluster sampling,a cross sectional study was carried out in 1-19 years old persons vaccinated with HepB in Guangzhou.Blood samples of the subjects were collected and then tested for HBsAg and anti-HBs by means of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results The HBsAg positive rate increased with time after HepB vaccination but the increase was not correlated to the decrease of anti-HBs.Logistic regression analyses showed that booster immunization of HepB(1 year and 6 years after primary immunization)and its dosage were positively associated with anti-HBs.HBsAg was negative in all of the people having been booster immuned at age 1 to 2 years.Conclusion Booster immunization of HepB in children under 2 years old and negative for anti-HBs is an important measure to control the increase of HBsAg positive rate.

Abstract:
Objective To explore the relationship between HBV intrauterine infection and delivery pattern in 1 191 neonates with HBsAg positive mothers.Methods The information on delivery pattern in HBsAg positive mothers were collected with a questionnaire survey.The hepatitis B virus(HBV)markers of the pregnant women and the neonates within 24 hours after the birth were detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay(ELISA).HBV DNA contents of pregnant women and the neonates were detected with real-time fluorescent quantitative(RT)-PCR.Results There were 101 HBsAgpositive and 30 HBV DNA-positive neonates in 1 191 neonates.The rate of HBV intrauterine infection was 9.5%.There was a significant difference in the rate of intrauterine infection between the women with vaginal delivery(582)and with cesarean section(609)(χ2=18.563,P=0.001).There were significant differences in the intrauterine infection rates between viginal delivery and cesarean section for the women of HBeAg-negative and HBV DNA-negative,HBeAg-positive and HBV DNAnegative,and HBeAg-positeve and HBV DNA-positive.(χ2=7.382,4.919,5.364,P<0.05 for all).Among the HBsAg-positive women with HBV DNA level≤103 copies/ml or 105-107 copies/ml,there was a correlation between delivery pattern and intrauterine infection(χ2=10.777,8.450,P<0.05 for all).Conclusion The delivery pattern has a significant effect on HBV intrauterine infection of the neonates with HBeAg positive mothers and the intrauterine infection rate could be reduced by cesarean section.

Abstract:
Objective To investigate situation and risk factors of hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection among residents of Quanzhou city.Methods With multi-stage stratified random sampling,we selected 2 608 residents at age of 1-59 years in Jinjiang,Nan'an and Anxi areas of Quanzhou city.A pre-designed questionnaire was used and the blood sample was collected to test HBV infection.Results The infection rate of HBV in the population was 64.03%.The infection rates of HBV among the residents of different age,living area,occupation,and education were significantly different(P<0.01).The rate of hepatitis B vaccination was 21.80%.There were significant differences(χ2=1 371.79,P<0.001)in the rates of hepatitis B vaccination among the residents at age of 1-4(93.33%),5-14(60.14%),and 15-59 years(4.99%).The HBV infection rate of the people with hepatitis B vaccination was 13.66% and lower than those of without hepatitis B vaccination (χ2=805.48,P<0.001).Logistic analyses showed that oral treatmens,shaving at barkers'were main risk factors and immunization and age were the protective factors of HBV infeetion.Conclusion The rate of HBV infection is relatively high among the population of Quanzhou city.The rate of HBV infection for those with oral treatment or shaving at barkers is higher than that of without the exposures.Hepatitis B vaccination is an important measure to control HBV infection.
Effect of mulberry flavonoids on oxidatie stress among diabetic rats with insulin resistance

Abstract:
Objective To observe the effect of mulberry flavone on oxidative stress in type 2 diabetes rats with insulin resistance and to explore molecular mechanism of mulberry flavone against insulin resistance.Methods The adult male SD rats were fed with high-fat diet for 8 weeks,and then randomly divided into model group with type 2 diabetes(MOD group),mulberry leaves flavone treatment group(MLF),and normal control group(NOR group).We observed levels of fasting plasma glucose(FPG),fasting insulin(FINS),serum malondialdehyde(MDA),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity,insulin sensitivity index(ISI),and insulin resistance index(IRI).Results Compared with the normal group,serum MDA(8.73±0.85 nmol/L)was significantly increased;SOD(226.45±17.54 U/ml)and GSH-Px(529.03±69.56 U/ml)activity were significantly lower in model group.Compared with model group,mulberry flavone could significantly reduce FINS(25.83±2.1 mU/L)and IRI(8.86±0.96),increase ISI(5.08±0.09),lower FPG(7.95±1.85 mmol/L),and increase SOD(297.85±22.16 U/ml)activity,decrease MDA(6.82±0.79 nmol/ml) content.Conclusion Mulberry flavone can improve insulin resistance in type 2 diabetic rats with hyperinsulinemia,lower plasma glucose,improve insulin sensitivity,and resist oxidative stress.

Abstract:
Objective To identify the association of the polymorphisms of rs2285666 and rs2106809 in angiotensinconverting enzyme 2(ACE2)gene and the anti-hypertensive effects of benazepril,and to explore its interaction with angiotensinⅡtype 1 receptor(AGTR1)gene and angiotensinogen(AGT)gene.Methods Association of the polymorphisms of rs2285666,rs2106809 and the change of blood pressure were identified based on 1 447 hypertensive patients who had been taking only benazepril in a 3-year benazepril postmarket surveillance trial and the interaction of the 13 single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)from ACE2 gene,AG TR1 gene and AGT gene was explored by the method of generalized multifactor dimensionality reduction(GMDR).Results There were 181(12.5%)patients whose blood pressure were normal and 1 266(87.5%)patients whose blood pressure were abnormal at the beginning of the study.Totally 1 230 patients were successfully indentrfied with the genotype of rs2285666 and 1 142 with rs2106809.Among the male patients whose blood pressure were normal before the study,there were associations between the polymorphism of rs2285666 and the reduction of pulse pressure(β=0.24,P=0.02)as well as rs2106809 and the reduction of systolic blood pressure(β=0.23,P=0.04). Among the female patients whose blood pressure were abnormal before the study,there were associations between the polymorphism of rs210680 and the reduction of systolic blood pressure(β=-0.06,P=0.04).The interaction was found in the systolic blood pressure reduction in both male and female,and that in diastolic pressure reduction in the female.Conclusion rs2285666 and rs2106809 is associated with the long-term anti-hypertensive effects of benazepril and the interactions exist among genes of ACE2,AGTR1 and AGT.

Abstract:
Objective To study the rate and predictors of recent HIV testing among men who have sex with men (MSM)and to provide the evidence for the intervention program among MSM.Methods The MSM were recruited through peer referring and internet advertising between August and December in 2009 in Beijing.Intervieweradministered interview s were conducted to collect information on demographics and behaviors.Blood samples were collected for HIV and syphilis test.Results Of the 962 eligible MSM surveyed,51.4% had test for HIV in the last 12 months.The prevalence of HIV infection and syphilis was 6.3% (61)and 17.7% (170),respectively.Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that self-identification as homosexual(odds ratio[OR]=1.41,95% confidence interval[CI]:1.04-1.90),understanding the 8 HIV-related know ledge correctly(OR=2.22,95% CI:1.67-2.95),receiving HIV prevention services recently (OR=10.01,95% CI:6.22-16.11),looking for partners from park or bathhouse(OR=0.63,95% CI:0.46-0.86),and reporting unprotected sex in the last 6 months(OR=1.65,95% CI:1.24-2.18)were associated with recent HIV testing.Conclusion Interventions improving AIDS awareness and prevention services are needed to further enhance the proportion of HIV testing among MSM,especially those looking for partners from park or bathhouse.
Development of multiplex real-time PCR for detection of Bacillus anthracis, Yersinia pestis and Legionella pneumophila

Abstract:
Objective To develop a mutiplex real-time PCR for the detection of specific structural genes and virulence genes of Bacillus anthracis,Yersinia pestis,and Legionella pneumophila.Methods Six pairs of specific primers and six fluorogen-labled probes were designed and synthesized according to capA and PA genes of Bacillus anthracis,pla and caf1 genes of Yersinia pestis,and pilE and Mip genes of Legionella pneumophila.The reaction parameters such as the concentration of primers,probes and the reaction buffer were optimized to develop two sets of multiplex real-time PCR assay for rapid detection of Bacillus anthracis,Yersinia pestis,and Legionella pneumophila simultaneously.By using the same method,the duplex real-time PCR for the detection of Bacillus anthracis,Yersinia pestis,and Legionella pneumophila were also estimated.Results The detectable concentration for the multiplex real-time PCR and duplex real-time PCR was 100 template copy per reaction and 20 template copy per reaction,respectively,and the detection had good specificity,stability,and reproducibility.Conclusion The multiplex real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR assay developed in the study has good specificity and sensitivity and could to be applied for the detection of Bacillus anthracis,Yersinia pestis,and Legionella pneumophila.
Influential factors for application of appropriate health technology in rural areas

Abstract:
Objective To explore the influential factors for application of appropriate health technology in the rural areas of Henan province.Methods An anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted among 3 016 medical personnel working in rural medical institutions and multifactor logistic regression model was applied in data analysis.Results Among the respondents,93.04% expected appropriated health technology be promoted in local area and 98.08% were willing to master some new appropriate health technology.Age,professional title,and education level had close relation with the attitude to the application of appropriate health technology(P<0.05).Influential factors on the application of appropriate health technology included age(odds ratio[OR]=0.868),professional title(OR=1.220),education(OR=1.474),technical proficiency of the doctor(OR=2.518),recognition of the leadership(OR=3.321),technical efficacy(OR=3.118),training of the doctors(OR=2.192),public acceptance(OR=2.109),price of the health service(OR=0.559),and hospital management system(OR=1.261).Conclusion Appropriate health technology could be adopted by the doctors working in the rural medical institutions.It is important to enhance management and establish encouragement for ensuring the effectiveness of popularization and application of appropriate health technology in rural area.
Polymorphisms in 5’-flanking region of PP2A-Bα gene in population of Guangdong province

Abstract:
Objective To investigate polymorphisms in promoter region of the PPP2R2A gene encoding the protein phosphatase 2A-Bαsubunit and their distributions in Chinses population.Methods Genomic DNA samples were extracted from healthy Han Cantonese randomly selected in Guangdong province.The genetic variants at-1707nt-+309nt locus of PPP2R2A were identified by PCR-resequencing.Allele distribution of the variants in the studied population was analyzed by HaploView softw are and compared with HapMap data.Results Totally 100 chromosomes from healthy individuals were completely resequenced.Four single nucleotide variants were identified in the population and their distributions were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(PM>0.05).The minimun allele frequency(MAF)of each variants was-977C>G(44%),-348C>T(4%),-286C>T(16%),and-180T>C(3%),respectively.There was a statistic difference in the distribution of-977C>G variant between in the studied population and in the HapMap-CEU or-YRI population(P<0.05),but no significant difference compared with the Asian people(HapMap-HCB and-JPT)(PM>0.05).Conclusion Three published and one noval genetic polymorphism sites were identified in the 5'-flanking region of PPP2R2A gene in healthy Han Cantonese.Their allele distributions and the differences from other population are firstly reported.

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the prevalence and distribution of schizophrenia among the residents aged more than 15 years in urban and rural areas of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.Methods From July through December, 2007,18 219 residents aged more than 15 years were randomly selected from 6 cities and 10 counties with stratified multistage cluster sampling.All subjects were investigated with a face-to-face interview.The Chinese version of Composite International Diagnostic Interview(CIDI 3.0)provided by the Chinese Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was used as the screening tool and the diagnoses were made with the 10th edition of International Classfication of Disease.Results The current and standerdized prevalence of schizophrenia in the residents were 8.29‰ and 8.32‰.The current and standerdized lifetime prevalence of the diseasee were 9.77‰ and 9.90‰.There were siginficant differences in current prevalence of the disease among the residents of different age(χ2=15.458,P=0.017),education(χ2=8.545,P<0.001),and marital status (χ2=75.518,P<0.001).There were also significant differences in lifetime prevalence of the disease among the residents of different age(χ2=26.293,P<0.001),edcucation(χ2=11.614,P=0.009),and marital status(χ2=86.947, P<0.001).There were no significant differences in current and lifetime prevalence of schizophrenia between the residents of different gender,nationality,and living area(PM>0.05 for all).Conclusion The prevalence of schizophrenia in Guangxi is higher than other areas of China.And the prevalence and distribution of schizophrenia are associated with age,educational level,and marriage status.
Establishment of cell transfected model for ERCC1 codon 118 single nucleotide polymorphisms

Abstract:
Objective To establish a transfected cell model of excision repair cross complementation group 1(ERCC1) codon 118 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP)and to provide a valid platform for ERCC1 codon 118 SNP function study.Methods ERCC1 expressed vector was constructed by GatewayTM clone technique.The expression vectors including different ERCC1 codon 118 SNP genotypes were transfected to Chinese hamster ovary(CHO)cell line defective mutant UV20.ERCC1 protein expression was detected by western blot.ERCC1 codon 118 SNP genotype was tested by PSQTM.Results ERCC1 expression vectors were established through GatewayTM clone technique and confirmed by restrict enzyme and genotype analysis.All transfected cell line can grow in G418 DMEM medium and express green fluorecent protein,ERCC1 protein and genotypes were also confirmed by western bolt and PSQTM.Conclusion The transfected cell model related to ERCC1 codon 118 SNPs was established and could be adopted in the research of single nucleotide polymorphisms of DNA damage repair gene in vitro.
Establishment of fluorescence quantitative PCR assay in detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Abstract:
Objective To establish and assess a rapid real-time quantifiable method for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis(Mtb).Methods The specific primers targetting 16S rDNA gene in Mtb were designed and the fluorescence quantitative PCR(FQ-PCR)assay was performed with SYBR Green I.After extraction of Mtb genomic DNA,the 16S rDNA fragment was amplified by conventional PCR and used to construct recombinant pMD-TB16S plasmid.Then,the serial dilutions of pMD-TB16S plasmid were subjected to the quantitation standard curve in FQ-PCR assay.The sputum samples from 11 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis were detected by the same FQ-PCR,with various genomic DNAs of Streptococcus viridans,Staphylococcus epidermidis,Staphylococcus aureus,and Escherichia coli used as the negative control to confirm specificity of FQ-PCR assay.The stabiity was analyzed with inter and intra FQ-PCR test by using the same Mtb genomic DNA,and the coefficient of variation(CV)values of threshold cycle(Ct)were calculated.Results The primers targetting Mtb 16S rDNA gene were specific to the amplification of 16S rDNA gene of Mtb but not other bacteria in control group by FQ-PCR,with the sensitivity of 1.2 pg/μL of Mtb genomic DNA or 38.9±3.54 copies/μL of 16S rDNA,and the CV values of Ct were 1.26% and 0.27% for inter and intra FQ-PCR assay.Conclusion The FQ-PCR assay targetting Mtb 16S rDNA gene is of rapid,sensitive,specific,and quantifiable in Mth detection.

Abstract:
Objective To analyze genetic and environmental influences on physical measurements of school-age twins, and the effects of sex and age.Methods A total of 297 tw in pairs,including 167 monozygotic(MZ),90 like-sex and 40 opposite-sex dizygotic(DZ)twin pairs,aged 6-12 years were investigated.The measurements inculded hight,sitting hight, weight,chest circumference,triceps skinfold,subscapular skinfold,and suprailiac skinfold.Model-fitting by Mx package was performed to evaluate the effects of heredity and environment.Results All of the physical measurements were related to age except triceps skinfolds was associated with age and sex.The genetic model for all items was ACES.Genetic variant component was higher than that of environment for each item.Common environmental effect on skinfolds in the boys was higher than that in the girls,and age variant components of skinfold(0.02-0.17)were lower than those of other items (0.35-0.74).After adjusting for age,the heritabilities of hight,sitting hight,weight,chest circumference,triceps skinfold, subscapular skinfold,and suprailiac skinfold were 0.80,0.76,0.53,0.72,0.51,0.56,and 0.51 in the boys and 0.83,0.79,0.73,0.66,0.87,0.86,and 0.83 in the girls,respectively.The female's heritabilities of weight and skinfold were higher than those of the male's.Conclusion The body physical measurements of school-age children are mainly influenced by the genetic factors but the effects of the age and gender on the heritability should be considered too.
Wllingness to accept circumcision and its influence factors among floating population

Abstract:
Objective To study the wllingness to accept circumcision and its influence factors among floating population in Chongqing city.Methods Totally 750 floating males selected with random cluster sampling were surveyed with a self-administered questionnaire.Results There were 41.07% of the floating persons likely to accept the circumcision. Persons aged 22-29 years(P=0.02)and with the education level of college or higher(P=0.000)were more likely to accept circumcision.Regression analysis showed the influence factors of accepting circumcision were the know ledge of wrapping grow or phimosis inducing urinary tract infection(odds ratio[OR]=7.949,95% confidence interval[CI]:1.29748.729),know ledge of surgical complications of circumcision(OR=0.111,95% CI:0.022-0.575);know ledge of wrapping grow or phimosis(OR=4826.936,95% CI:590.718-3 942 860),and having sexual behaviour during previous month (OR=72.02,95% CI:5.428-955.570).Conclusion There is a high acceptance rate of circumcision among floating male population in Chongqing area but the prevallence of circumcision is low because of the lack of relavent know ledge in the population.

Objective To investigate the change of apoptosis factors Bax,Bcl-2,cytochrome C,and caspase-3 and their role in the mechanism of myocardial cells injury under hypoxia combined with water and dietary depletion in rats.Methods Eighty wistar rats were placed in a self-designed normobaric hypoxic chamber with the oxygen concentration of 10%.In situ cell apoptosis detection,immunochemistry and in situ hybridization were used to detect the change of apoptosis index of myocardial cells and the expressions of Bax,Bcl-2,cytochrome C,and caspase-3 in the process at 1st,3rd,5th,and 7th day after the treatment.Results The apoptosis index of myocardial cells was increased at 1st and 7th day under the condition (62.63±14.97,20.19±3.26).The expressions of Bax,cytochrome C,and caspase-3 were increased from 1st to 7th day in hypoxia group and hypoxia combined with water and dietary depletion group,and from 3rd to 7th day for water and dietary depletion group.The expression of Bcl-2 was reduced from 1st to 7th day in hypoxia group and water and dietary depletion group and from 3rd to 7th day in hypoxia combined with water and dietary depletion group.The mRNA of caspase-3 was increased at 1st day(4.19±1.42,3.87±0.86)and 7th day(10.43±2.79,12.12±2.27)in hypoxia group and hypoxia combined with water and dietary depletion group,and at 1st day in water and dietary depletion group(3.85±0.88).Conclusion The hypoxia of 10% oxygen concentration combined with water and dietary depletion could result in apoptosis of myocardial cells which was correlated with the increase of promoting apoptotic factor(Bax)and the decrease of anti-apoptotic factor(Bcl-2).Furthermore,it might result in release of cytochrome C by mitochondria pathw ay,activation of caspase-3,and apoptosis of myocardial cells.

Abstract:
Objective To study the change and significance of DNA methylation pattern and DNA methyltransferase (DNMT1)protein in 60Co γ-ray irradiated mice tissues.Methods Twelve SPF C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided intocontrol group and radiation group.The radiation group were exposed to 4Gy-single whole body radiation.All mice were sacrificed 3 days after the radiation.The total number of peripheral white blood cells and the frequencies of micronucleated polychromatic erythocytes(fMNPCE)were measured.Methylated DNA immunoprecipitation-chip(MeDIP-chip)was adopted to investigate the differentially expressed CpG islands methylation profiles in mouse liver genome promoter.The immunohistochemical(SP method)and western blot method were used to check the expression of DNMT1 protein in tissues.Results Compared with the control group,the promoter methylation profiles of irradiated mice changed obviously,with 1300 genes methylated and 660 genes demethylated.With the improvement of the screening criteria,the obviously methylated genes were Trim71,Sema3f,Pcdh8,Sox4,1110034A24Rik,Limk1,Nefl,and Xpr1 and the demethylated genes were Sfrs18,Dr1, Ankrd42,Nae1,Sfi1,Accn1,Srd5a1,Nsun2,Eif1a,and Dusp5.Except in the lung,the expression of DNMT1 protein in liver, kidney,testicle,and brain tissues were all increased(P<0.05).Conclusion There are methylation changes of gene promoter in ionizing radiation injury and the increased expression of DNMT1 may be the reason of gene promoter methylation.

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the protective effect of aduola fuzhenglin(ADL)on immune injury induced by microw ave exposure in rats.Methods Totally 140 male Wistar rats were randomized into control,radiation,and ADL group and treated with 0.75,1.5,and 3g/kg ADL,respectively,for 14 days before they were exposed to 30mW/cm2 microw ave radiation for 15 minutes.The counts of leucocytes and lymphocytes,ratio of CD4+/CD8+,levels of interleukin-2(IL-2)and interleulkin-4(IL-4)in peripheral blood were detected with cell count,flow cytometry,and radioimmunoassay at 7th day and 14th day after the microw ave exposure.Results Seven days after the exposure,the ratio of CD4+/+CD8+decreased from 2.13±0.10 in control group to 1.74±0.17 in radiation group(P<0.01)and was significantly lower than that of in 0.75 g/kg group(2.15±0.16)and that of in 3g/kg group(2.09±0.31)(P<0.05).Fourteen days after the exposure,the counts of leucocytes in radiation group decreased from 7.17±1.09×109/L in control group to 5.82±0.72×109/L in radiation group(P<0.05)andwere lower than that of in 1.5g/kg group(9.09±1.84×109/L)and that of in 3 g/kg group (8.61±1.86×109/L)(P<0.05).The ratio of CD4+/CD8+in radiation group was 1.70±0.15 and was lower than that of in control group(2.06±0.31,P<0.05)and that of in 1.5g/kg group(2.05±0.34)in 3g/kg ADL group(2.36±0.21; P<0.05).The levels of IL-2 and IL-4 were not significantly different among the 5 groups after the exposure.Conclusion Treatment with 3g/kg ADL for 14 days is approved to protect against immune injury caused by microw ave exposure in rats.

Abstract:
Objective To explore the potential role of iron regulator protein 2(IRP2)under conditions of vitamin A deficiency and the relationship between vitamin A deficiency and anemia.Methods Forty-eight SD rats were divided randomly into four groups of control,complete deficient in vitamin A,marginal deficiency in vitamin A,and ion plus vitamin A marginal deficiency.After 8 weeks,all the rats were killed by sodium pentobarbital anesthesia and all samples were collected and detected for gene expression.Results As expected,the concentration of serum retinol in completely vitamin A deficiency group(0.22±0.26μmol/L),compared with that of the control group(1.50±0.41μmol/L),was significantly decreased.Compared with that of the control group(3.85±0.94μg/ml),the concentration of serum rion(2.26±0.72μg/ml) in complete vitaminA deficiency group was significantly decreased.Compared with that of the control group(0.81±0.08), the level of IRP2 mRNA(1.53±0.18)in complete vitamin A deficiency group was significantly increased,and the level of transferrin receptor mRNA(0.62±0.06)was also increased compared with that of the control group(0.33±0.02).Compared with the control group(0.85±0.04),the level of ferrintin RNA(0.52±0.08)in complete vitamin A deficiency group was significantly decreased.Conclusion The results indicate that vitamin A deficiency influences iron homeostasis in cells through affecting the expression of IRP2 and the activity of IRP-RNA comhinatiion and then changing the expressions of ferritin and transferrin mRNA.

Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of lead on learning,memory and the expression of IL-1βmRNA and protein in rats for the study of neurotoxic mechanism of lead.Methods Pregnant mice(10 for each group)were exposed to low(0.3 g/L),moderate(1.0 g/L),and high-level(3.0 g/L)of lead acetate in deionized drinking water from the first day of gestation to 21th postnatal day(PND).The lead concentration in blood and hippocampus were determined at 7th,14th, 21th day of neonatal mice pups.The ability of learning and memory and the expression of IL-1βmRNA and protein in hippocampus of different groups at 21th day were measured.Results The lead concentration in lead exposure group was higher than that of in control group(P<0.05).In water Morris maze test,there was statistical significance in moderate and high lead exposure group(P<0.05).The relative expression level of IL-1βmRNA in control group,low,moderate,high lead exposure group were 0.073±0.016,0.572±0.287,1.090±0.521,and 1.312±0.837 and the expression of IL-1β protein was 0.708±2.260,8.958±2.257,19.375±1.644,and 25.125±4.748,respectively.The expressions of IL-1β mRNA and protein were higher in lead exposed groups than that of in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Lead may affect learning and memory and cause nervous system damage by inducing IL-1β expression in hippocampus in mice.

Abstract:
Objective To study the protective effect of housefly maggot chitosan(HMC)on the damage of brain microvascular endotheliocyte induced by H2O2 in vitro.Methods Normal cells,damaged cells induced by H2O2 were cultured in modified minimal essential medium(DMEM),together with different doses of HMC.The survival rates of the cells were tested with 3-(4,5 dimethythiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay.Vasoactive substance contents such as nitric oxide(NO)and endothelin(ET)in cell culture fluid were tested with biochemistry and radioimmunity method.In addition,superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malonodialdehyde(MDA)contents in culture fluid of H2O2 damaged cells were detected with biochemistry method.Results In MTT experiment,A values for cell survival rate of moderate and high dose HMC+hydrogen peroxide groups were 0.714 0±0.059 5 and 0.811 9±0.059 7,which were higher than that of hydrogen peroxide treated groups(P<0.01).In all HMC+hydrogen peroxide groups,SOD levels were 14.76±1.59, 16.99±1.69,and 19.22±2.31NU/mL,respectively,which were higher than those of hydrogen peroxide treated groups (P<0.05,P<0.01).In all HMC+hydrogen peroxide groups,MDA levels were 10.11±1.91,8.23±1.64,and 6.74±1.26 nmol/L,respectively,which were lower than that of hydrogen peroxide treated groups(P<0.01).NO levels were higher (P<0.05,P<0.01)and ET contents were lower(P<0.01)than those of H2O2 treated group(P<0.01).Conclusion HMC could protect vascular endothelial cell and could elevate cell survival rate,promote the releasing of NO from damaged cell induced by H2O2,restrain the releasing of ET,preserve the structural and functional integrity of the cell.HMC could activate SOD,enhance its anti-oxidation effect.

Objective To investigate the effects of genistein on the growth and cell cycle of human glioma cell line U251MG.Methods The growth inhibition of U251MG cells was measured with 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenytetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay.Phase distribution of cell cycle was analyzed with flow cytometry.The expression of cyclin B1 and cyclin-dependent protein kinase 1(CDK1)were determined with western blotting.Results Genistein inhibited the grow th of U251MG cells significantly in a dose-and time-dependent manner.When U251MG cells were treated with genistein for 48 hours,the cell cycle was arrested in the G22/M phase and cyclin B1,CDK1 protein expressions were significantly decreased in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.01,P<0.01).Conclusion Genistein can inhibit the grow th of U251MG cells significantly.G22/M arrest of U251MG cells after treated with genistein may be related to the decreased protein expression of cyclin B1 and CDK1.

Abstract:
Objective To investigate protective effect of lycopene on renal damage induced by chlorinated mercury.Methods The rats were treated with 40 mg/kg lycopene by gavage and subcutaneously injected with 8.8μmol/kg chlorinated mercury once a day for two days.The contents of glutathione(GSH),malonodialdehyde(MDA),superoxide dismutase (SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)in renal cortical,blood urea nitrogen(BUN),urinary protein,alkaline phosphatase (ALP),β-N-acetyl-glucosaminidase(NAG),lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),and Hg in urine were determined.Results In comparison with the high-dose chlorinated mercury group,nephrotoxicity in the group of lycopene pretreatment was reversed.The activities of NAG(103.73±21.79),LDH(113.19±23.74)and ALP(73.64±21.51 U/gcr)decreased significantly in urine of the rats.The content of the urinary protein decreased to 4.40±1.12 g/g Cr.and the content of GSH and MDA decreased to 45.33±5.90 and 1.03±0.12μmol/g pro.The activity of the SOD and GSH-Px increased to 39.94±6.04 and 85.62±12.68 U/mg pro in rats kidney.In addition,BUN in serum dropped to 15.93±9.36 mmol/L.All of differences were statistically significant(P<0.05 forall).Conclusion Lycopene have protective effect on Hg-induced toxicity.

Objective To study the genotype of CagA and drug resistance to clarithromycin of Helicobacter pyloriHp (Hp).Methods Hp strains were isolated from 482 gastric mucosa biopsies of patients with peptic ulcer or gastritis in Youjiang Medical College for Nationalities.The amplification of CagA gene fragment was conducted with PCR.Resistance to clarithromycin of Hp was determined with E-test.Meanwhile,strains were genotyped with repetitive extragenic palindromicPCR(REP-PCR)and further clustered with NTsys2 software.Results Totally 374 Hp strains were identified with 87 Hp strains of CagA gene positive and a positive rate of 23.3% (87/374).The 26 CagA gene positive and resistant to clarithromycin strains were divided into six genotype groups according to their 78% homology,with 3,3,8,4,6,2 strains in each Hp group,respectively.Conclusion The CagA gene positive and resistant to clarithromycin strains could be divided into six genotype groups and the resistance to clarithromycin of Hp is not associated with CagA gene.

Abstract:
Objective To explore the relationship between metabolic syndrome(MS)and dietary nutrients intake in residents of Shenzhen for making dietary control strategies.Methods Totally 3 498 people aged 15 years and above were sampled at random with multistage stratified sampling.All subjects took a questionnaire survey and anthropometric and laboratory test.The metabolic syndrome definition was based on the criterion recommended by Chinese Association of Diabetes (2004).Results The standardized prevalence of MS in the residents was 7.76%,which was significant higher than that of Guangdong residents.The t-test analysis indicated that there were obvious differences in potassium,sodium,iron,manganese,and retinol intake between the residents with and without MS(P<0.05).The multivariate logistic analysis indicated that taking excessive vitamin B2(odds ratio[OR]=0.281),vitamin E(OR=0.928),and iron(OR=1.061)were the important risk factors for MS.Conclusion The dietary nutrients intake is related with metabolic syndrome and appropriate nutrition intervention is very important to prevent and control the occurrence of MS.

Abstract:
Objective To study the toxicity of perglutaric acid for its application in disinfection.Methods Stimulation experiment was used to observe the local response of rabbit skin and eye mucosa to perglutaric acid.Accumulative toxicity test was carried out with fixed dose method,and the experiment was terminated when a half of animal were dead.The micronuclear test with polychromatic erythrocytes(PCEs)of bone marrow and sperm abnormality test were used to detect the toxicity of perglutaric acid.Results Perglutaric acid at concentrations of 2% or 0.5% has no stimulative effect on rabbit skin and eye mucosa(0 score for skin irritation,2 score for eye irritation).The accumulative toxicity of perglutaric acid is extremely weak,with a cumulative coefficient of 5.Compared with the negative control,perglutaric acid did not obviously increase the rate of sperm abnormality and micronuclear.Conclusion In a certain dose range,perglutaric acid has no stimulative effect on rabbit skin and eye mucosa and has no mutagenic effect with an extremely weak accumulative toxicity.Peracetic acid is a disinfector with low toxicity.

Abstract:
Objective To study combined toxic effect of formaldehyde and toluene exposure on oxidative damage of brain in mice.Methods The treatments were administered by static inhaling formaldehyde or/and toluene.The activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD),nitric oxide synthase(NOS),the contents of reactive oxygen species(ROS),glutathione (GSH),and malondialdehyde(MDA)in the brain of the mice were determined.Results When the mice were jointly exposed to formaldehyde and toluene,the contents of ROS and MDA,the activity of NOS in brain were increased and the contents of GSH and the activity of SOD were decreased(P<0.01).There were interactions between formaldehyde and toluene in ROS,NOS,SOD,GSH,and MDA(P<0.05).Conclusion Formaldehyde and toluene could induce oxidative damage in brain of mice.The joint toxicity of formaldehyde and toluene is synergistic.

Abstract:
Objective To examine the relationship between prevalence of cardiovascular diseases(CVD)and clustering of risk factors among rural residents in Luoping conty of Yunnan province.Methods Probability proportional to size(PPS) sampling method was used to select a representative sample of 4 801 residents aged 18 years and over from Luoping county. A questionnaire survey and physical examination were conducted among the residents.Results The prevalences of hypertension,stroke,heart disease,smoking,drinking,overweight,obesity,diabtets,central obesity,high serum total cholesterol, heavy salty food intake,and family history of CVD were 17.1%,0.7%,0.5%,31.1%,20.9%,25.1%,7.0%,6.8%, 43.8%,0.6%,15.9%,and 6.1% among the residents,respectively.The prevalences of obesity,central obesity,and diabetes were higher among the females than those of among the males(P<0.05),whereas the males had obviously higher proportion of clustering of 2 or more CVD risk factors than the females.The prevalences of hypertension and diabetes increased with the number of CVD risk factors(P<0.01).Conclusion The CVD risk factors were prevalent among rural residents in the study area.Reducing the clustering of CVD risk factors would be helpful for decreasing the prevalence of hypertension and diabetes.

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the relationship between serum resistin concentration and hyperuricemia among Uygur in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.Methods Serum resistin concentration was measured in 413 Uygur(207 hyperuricemia cases and 206 healthy controls)with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and their serum uric acid (SUA),triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoproteincholesterol(LDL-C),height,body weight,waist circumference(WC),and hip circumference(HC)were also measured and their waist-to-height ratio(WHTR)and body mass index(BMI)were calculated.Results The WC,HC,WHTR,TG and systolic blood pressure(SBP)levels were significantly increased in hyperuricemia group compared with those of the control group.Resistin level in hyperuricemia group was significantly higher than that of in the control group(P<0.01).There was no difference in resistin level between two groups after adjustment for body fat.In control group,the level of resistin was not difference between male and female(PM>0.01).The serum resistin concentration was significantly and positively correlated with SUA(r=0.041,P=0.004).But resistin was not significantly correlated with age and blood pressure.BMI and LDL-C were significantly correlated with resistin based on the results of stepw ise linear regression(P<0.05).Conclusion The strong correlation between serum resistin and lipid metabolism suggests that lipid metabolism might be a intermediator between serum resistin and hyperuricemia in Uygur.

Abstract:
Objective To discover differences in risk factors of community acquired pneumonia and hospital acquired pneumonia and to provide the scientific basis for public health emergency control.Methods Pneumonia cases were collected consecutively in the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from May 2008 to October 2009.A total of 244 cases of pneumonia were collected with 178 cases of community acquired pneumonia and 66 cases of hospital-acquired pneumonia. Then risk factors were compared between the two groups.Results Univariate analyses showed that the two groups were significantly different in gender,age,education level,underlying disease,passive smoking,and history of exposure to respiratory tract infection.But there was no significant difference in occupation,smoking,drinking,and travel history.Multivariate analyses showed that the difference was significant in age,education level,underlying disease,and geographic distribution.Conclusion There are different risk factors between community-acquired pneumonia and hospital-acquired pneumonia and control measures should be taken in different ways.

Objective To explore the utilization of voluntary HIV counseling and testing(VCT)among high risk populations in Anshan,Liaoning province and to find factors influencing the utilization of VCT.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in August,2009.Totally 321 female sex workers(FSW),men who have sex with men(MSM),and migrant workers were interviewed with a structured questionnaire.Results The proportions of participants who ever sought HIV counseling and testing were 64.8% and 64.2%,respectively.The proportions of MSM who sought counseling and testing was the highest among the three populations(77.6% and 93.3%,respectively).Only 56.3% of FSW ever sought counseling and 44.1% of migrant workers took HIV testing.Multivariate analyses showed that the convenience of VCT clinic(odds ratio[OR]=2.481,95% confidence interval[CI]:1.289-4.773)and being MSM(OR=2.393,95% CI: 1.101-5.202)were related to the use of counseling;the confidentiality of VCT(OR=0.233,95% CI=0.101-0.535), being male(OR=3.580,95% CI=1.102-11.627)and MSM(OR=35.322,95% CI=6.000-207.945)were related to the use of HIV testing.Conclusion Proportion of high risk population utilizing VCT is high in Anshan city.Accessibility and confidentiality of VCT influence the utilization of VCT among high risk populations.

Abstract:
Objective To explore the correlation between hyperthyroidism vs hypothyroidism hospitalization ratio(HHHR)and environmental iodine intake.Methods Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism hospitalization records,data on salt and environmental iodine intake were collected retrospectively among urban residents of Changzhou city during the period of 1991 to 2004.The data were analyzed with descriptive epidemiological method.Results Totally 2 625 hyperthyroidism and 286 hypothyroidism hospitalization cases were investigated.The HHHR was 4.3 before the universal salt iodization(USI) and increased to 10.7 after USI with a peak value of 19.6.The iodine content of salt was less than 5mg/kg before USI and was 27.7 mg/kg after USI.The environmental iodine intake was increased from 71.6μg/d to 209.0μg/d after USI.Conclusion The increase of HHHR is probably related to the increase of environmental iodine intake.HHHR can be used as the reference for the evaluation of environmental iodine intake.

Abstract:
Objective To exarmine the relationship between social support,personality and subject well-being(SWB) and their interactive mechanism in migrant workers.Methods Totally 245 migrant workers in Xi'an and 204 peasants at home were evaluated with Social Supporting Rating Scale(SSRS),Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ),and Subject Well-being Scale.Results The scores of subjective support,subjective well-being,and the introverted and extroverted personality in the migrant workers were 22.35±4.70,14.84±6.15,and 11.35±3.59,respectively.Correlation analyses indicated that subjective support was significantly positively associated with SWB(r=0.225,P<0.001). Meanwhile,the introverted and extroverted personality was dramatically positively associated with the subjective support (r=0.151,P<0.05).Subjective support was a significant predictor for SWB and introverted and extroverted personality affected SWB through the mediation of subjective suport.Conclusion SWB of migrant workers is inferior to the peasants at home.The introverted and extroverted personality and the subjective support are important factors influencing SWB in migrant workers.

Abstract:
Objective To explore long-term effect of endemic arsenism on immune function among residents and to providie evidence for prevention and treatment of arsenism.Methods With cluster sampling and typical investigation,the subjects were divided into five groups:mild,moderate,and severe patient group,external control and internal control group. The patient groups and the internal control group were selected in the arsenism areas 5 years after drinking water improved. Immunoglobulin G(IgG)and lysozyme(LSZ)were measured.The data were analyzed with SPSS13.0.Results There were 252 people surveyed in five groups.The water arsenic in the arsenism areas was below the national standard for drinking water quality(≤0.05 mg/L).Urine arsenic contents were significantly different among the five groups(H=2.698,PM> 0.05).The concentrations of IgG were significantly different among the five groups(H=52.923,P<0.01).The average content of IgG in external control group was 11.16 g/L and significantly higher than that of in the other groups(P<0.05). The concentrations of lysozyme(LSZ)were significantly different among the five groups(H=34.998,P<0.01).The average of LSZ in external control group was 13.57μg/ml and significantly higher than that of in the other groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Arsenic could induce long-term effect on immune function among the residents living in the area five-year after water improvement.People in arsenism areas after water improvement must be surveyed and water improvement needs to be strengthened.

Abstract:
Objective To explore the relationship between psychosocial factors and the quality of life among postoperative patients with stomach cancer.Methods The sample was consisted of 231 postoperative patients with stomach cancer in two province-level hospitals in Fuzhou city during the periods from January 2008 to January 2009.The cases were surveyed by trained interviewers with constructed questionnaires.The multiple regression method was used to analyze the effect of psychosocial factors on quality of life of the patients.Results Depression was an important risk factor for the quality of life in the patients(β=0.916,P<0.05)and the social support was the main favorable factor for the quality of life (β=-0.886,P<0.05).Conclusion It is important to alleviate depression symptoms and increase social support to improve the quality of life of postoperative patients with stomach cancer.

Abstract:
Objective To explore the relationships between pessimistic attitude to human nature,affective empathy and prosocial behavior,and to test the mediator effect of affective empathy on the correlation between lack of faith in human nature and prosocial behavior.Methods The Kiddie Machiavellianism Scale,Basic Empathy Scale,and Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire were used to investigate 101 middle school students.Results The girls had higher scores in affective empathy than boys(30.93±4.98 vs 28.62±5.15,P<0.05);students of grade 8 had higher scores in lack of faith in human nature than students of grade 9(17.47±4.40 vs 14.97±3.66,P<0.05);students of grade 9 had higher scores in affective empathy and prosocial behavior than students of grade 7(30.97±4.02 vs 7.82±1.65,P<0.05;27.50±5.45 vs 6.75 ±1.74,P<0.05).Lack of faith in human nature,affective empathy,and prosocial behavior were significantly correlated with each other(P<0.05-0.01).Affective empathy had a mediator effect on the relationship between lack of faith in human nature and prosocial behavior,accounting for 35.33% of total effect.Conclusion Gender difference is significant in affective empathy.The levels of affective empathy and prosocial behavior increase with the age and the effect of lack of faith in human nature on prosocial behavior is mediated by affective empathy.

Abstract:
Objective To understand smoking situation and the relationship between smoking behavior and selfesteem,personality among high school students and to provide basis for prevention and treatment of smoking behavior.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 691 high school students in grade ten and grade twelve from 4 schools in Xi'an city.The relationship between smoking behavior and personality was investigated.Results The smoking rate was 39.8% in the students(86.9% for male and 13.1% for female),with a significant gender difference.Self-esteem, nerves and neuroticism were related to smoking among the male and smoking was related to self-esteem among the female.Conclusion Smoking behavior is closely related to self-esteem and personality factors among high school students.

Objective To describe the prevalence of physical activity(PA)and to identify the women with physcial inactivity for effective health promotion among the women in Wuhan.Methods A structured questionnaire was used to collect information on PA and socio-demographic and behavioral status.Logistic regression models were applied to estimate associations between physical inactivity and correlation factors in multivariable models.Results Among the 1 359 women recruited,45.7% (620)were physically active and 27.5% (374)were vigorusly active.The prevalence of physical inactivity was 26.8% (365).PA tended to be low among the women aged 18-35 years,especially among women younger than 25 years.The proportion of general,occupation,housew ork,transportation,and leisure-time physical inactivity was 78.7% (85),75.9% (82),94.4% (102),76.9% (83),and 49.1% (53),respectively.Administration staff had the highest proportions of inactivity in transportation,housew ork,and genera 75.5%,82.6% and 39.1%,respectively.The women with master or doctor degree had the highest inactive rates in occupation(84.0%),housew ork(78.2%),transportation (86.6%),leisure time(77.3%),and general(51.3%),respectively.The related factors of physical inactivity were at age of 18-35 years,without habit of physical exercise,high education level(master or doctor),and working as office staff.Conclusion The results suggest that the physical inactivity is prevalent in the women under the age of 35 years,with high education level,and working in the office in Wuhan city and specific intervention should be emphasized.

Objective To examine the prevalence dyslipidemia among residents≥18 years old in Changshu city and to provide the basis for intervention on the disorder.Methods With multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method,1 568 residents above 18 years old from 720 households in 4 tow ns and 8 villages were selected.Medical examination,dietary survey, and biochemical detection were conducted among the residents.Results The prevalence rate of dyslipidemia in the residents was 37.2%.Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that at the age of 30 to 44 years,with body mass index≥24, hypertension,and abdominal obesity were the risk factors for dyslipidemia and female,the propertion of fat as energy of <30%,oil intake of<30 g/d,and dietary fiber intake≥15 g/d were the protective factors of dyslipidemia.Conclusion The prevalence rate of dyslipidemia in adult residents of Changshu city is high and weight control,low intake of fat,and high dietary fiber are important means to the prevention of dyslipidemia.

Objective To explore the epidemics of diseases and needs for emergency rescue after typhoon disaster.Methods Totally 434 adults were recruited from rural areas in coastal south-east of Cannan county attacked by a typhoon and interviewed with a structured questionnaire including socio-demographic characteristics,features of injuries and diseases after the disaster.Results There were 29.1% of the residents reporting the suffering of injuries or diseases and 20.36% (87/434)reporting hospitalization due to injuries caused by the typhoon attack.The prevalent diseases were acute respiration infection and acute gastroenteritis on the third day after the typhoon attack,wound infection on the 5th day,and relapse of some diseases on the 7th day.Conclusion Injuries are the most prevalent disease due to typhoon attack and midical rescue after the disaster should be carried out according to the prevallence of the disease.

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the correlation between mental status and quality of life(QOL)in patients with head and neck carcinoma after treatment.Methods Questionnaires were administered to 116 patients after operation or radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the Department of Oncology,No.456 Hospital of Ji'nan Military Region of People's Liberation Army.Results The total scores of the University of Washington Quality of Life Questionnaire(UW-QOL)in the patients and the controls were 717.45±109.63 and 867±90.64,respectively.Compared with the control,the patients had lower scores in every domain of life quality(P<0.05).Significant correlations were found between anxiety,depression and the most domains of the questionnaire(P<0.05)based on the analyses of Spearman correlation.Anxiety and depression were main influencing factors to the quality of life in the patients according to the results of logistic regression analyses with the standardized regression coefficients of-0.597 and-0.830,respectively.There was a close relationship between mental status and the quality of life in the patients.Conclusion Mental health promotion could be an effective intervention method and better mental health can improve the QOL of the patients with head and neck carcinoma.

Objective To study the anti-lipid peroxidative effect of Rhaponticum uniflorum water extract(RUWE).Methods The total antioxidant activity was determined with ferric reducing method and the malonyldialdehyde(MDA) content of H2O2,Fe2+ or Fe2++H2O2-induced liver homogenate was detected with thiobarbituric acid(TBA)method.Results RUWE exerted a high general antioxidant capacity in a concentration-dependent manner with a regeression equation of y=4.4759x+7.0463,R2=0.9958,and concentration-dependently inhibited the lipid peroxidation of liver tissue induced by H2O2,Fe2+ and Fe2++H2O2 with the median inhibitive concentration(IC50)of 0.775,0.886,and 1.99 mg/mL,respectively.Conclusion RUWE has anti-lipid peroxidative effect in vitro.

Objective To isolate and identify petroleum-degrading bacteria from oil-polluted soil in Karamay of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.Methods By enriching the polluted soil with petroleum hydrocarbons as the only carbon source,the oil-degradation bacterium from oil-contaminated soil was screened and identified by its 16S rDNA sequencing. Then basic local alignment search tool(BIAST)was used to indicate the sequence of the isolates from the GenBank.Results Totally 18 bacteria strains were isolated and identified from oil-polluted soil.The sequence of its 16S rDNA indicated that there were 98% of homology to the representative strains.The main strain were Pseudomonas sp.,Planococcus sp., Arthrobacter sp.,Psychrobacter sp.,Brevibacillus agri sp.,and Brevundimonas sp..The bacteria strains from different oilpolluted soil were different and there were more bacteria strains in heavy oil-polluted soil.Conclusion The main strain was Pseudomonas sp.in oil-polluted soid and the bacteria strains were different in different oil-polluted soil.

To identify the pathogen of severe acute pneumonia in Chifeng city,Inner Mongolia and to analyze the homeology of pol gene of the pathogen.Methods Reverse transcription PCR(RT-PCR)and multiplex PCR were used to detect nucleic acid of the influenza virus and respiratory viruses from oropharyngeal swabs of infection cases.Onestep RT-PCR was used to amplified the pol gene from the human coronavirus 299E,OC43,NL63,and HKU1 virus and the pol gene was sequenced to analyze the homeology of the positive sample.Results The human coronavirus HKU1 virus was detected from one sample.The pol gene sequence data showed that the virus had high homeology with the reference human coronavirus HKU1.Conclusion The study identified one patient infected with human coronavirus HKU1 virus and other infection cases need to be studied further.

Objective To explore the risk factors associated with fatality among severe cases of pandemic influenza H1N1 in Nanchang city.Methods A case-control study was conducted with 9 cases of death and 66 severe cases of influenza H1N1 as controls.Results The ratio of the severe cases was 8.33% among all influenza A H1N1 patients.The mortality was 1%.The fatality of the cases with chronic liver disease,pregnancy,and invasive oxygen treatment was higher than that of severe cases with the odds ratio(OR)(95% confidence interval[CI])of 25.6(1.97-333.55),12.67(0.86186.91),and 10(1.07-93.44).Compared with the cases without complication,the fatality of the cases with 2 or 3 complications was higher with the OR(95% CI)of 9.83(1.17-82.94)and 118(8.72-1597).Conclusion The basic diseases (chronic liver disease,cardiovascular disease,pregnancy),with invasive oxygen treatment and complications are risk factors of fatallty for serere influenza A H1N1 patients.The case with the risk factors should be diagnosed earlier,monitored closely,and treated properly to reduce the fatality.

Abstract:
Objective To investigate the variation and distribution of microorganism on the surface of microphone head.Methods The specimens were collected with sterilized sw ab scrubbing.The abundance and density of the microorganisms were detected with bacterial culture and identification tests.The antigen of respiratory virus was detected with direct fluorescence antibody(DFA)and the specific DNA of Mycoplasma pneumoniae,Chlamydiae trachomatis,and Chlamydophila pneumoniae were detected with polymerase chain reaction(PCR).Results There were 3-9 bacterial species belonging to 2-6 genuses on the surface of microphone head.The positive detection rates of Staphylococcus,Streptococcus,Neisseria,Corynebacterium,and Bacillus were 17.33%-59.77%,21.21%-88.89%,15.78%-23.54%, 5.67%-11.12%,and 2.08%-12.36%,respectively.The microorganisms detected were mainly normal bacteria of oral cavity and pharyngonasal cavity,as well as the common bacteria in the environment.The antigen positive rate was 56.25%, 87.50%,68.75%,81.25%,43.75%,43.75%,and 68.75% for adenovirus,respiratory syncytial virus,influenza virus A, influenza virus B,parainfluenza virus 1,parainfluenza virus 2 and parainfluenza virus 3,respectively.The positive rate of Chlamydiae trachomatis was 6.25%.Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Chlamydophila pneumoniae were not checked out.Conclusion There were abundant microbial populations on the surface of microphone head,including pathogen and conditioned pathogen.The microphone is a potential vector associated with respiratory infections.

Objective To study the effect of Lycium barbarum polysaccharides(LBP)on reproductive system damage induced by sub-chronic partial 60Coγ-radiation in male rats.Methods Totally 84 Wistar male rats were randomly divided into 1 control group,3 radiation groups,and 3 LBP+radiation groups.After LBP gavage for 7 days,the treatment groups were exposed to 60Coγ-ray local irradiation 5 days in a week for 4 weeks with the target distance of 80cm and the total dose of 2.3 Gy for each rat.The irradiation location was lower abdomen and the places above the anterior superior iliac crest was covered with 3 mm thick lead grid.During the irradiation,the rats in control group were administrated with equal quantity of normal saline.The rats in radiation groups and LBP+radiation groups were killed by severing the femoral artery at 1st,7th, and 14th day of the radiation and their sexual ability was observed and the sperm count and viability,the contents of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)were determined.Results The average mount of latency and ejaculation latency in radiation groups were 449.38 s and 463.25 s and significantly higher than those of the control group (272.75 s and 278.50 s)(P<0.01).Mount frequency,ejaculation frequency,and sperm count of the radiation group were also significantly different from those of the control group.SOD and MDA in model groups were 124.46 U/mg prot and 2.24 nmol/mg prot but those of the contorl group were 155.11 U/mg prot and 1.30 nmol/mg prot with significant differences(P<0.01).The mount latency and ejaculation latency in LBP+radiation groups reduced to 312.88 s and 325.00 s and the SOD activity and MDA content were 148.44 U/mg prot and 1.67 nmol/mg prot and similar to those of the control group.Conclusion LBP has obvious antagonistic effect on reproductive system damage induced by 60Coγ-sub-chronic partial radiation and can promote the recovery of the damage in male rats.
