Abstract:
Objective To elucidate relations among H. pylori infection and interleukin-1 locus polymorphisms:IL-1B-31, IL-1B-511 and IL-1RNand to investigate interaction of both in development of duodenal ulcers.
Methods Casecontrol study was carried out involving 94 control subjects and 54 patients with duodenal ulcer.H. pylori states was examined with ELISA, VNTRof IL-1RN was examined with PCR, PCR-RFLP was used to analyze SNPs of IL-1B-31 and IL-1B-511.
Results Helicobacter pylori infection, carriage of IL-1B-511 C/C increased risk of duodenal ulcer with odds ratios of 8.26(95% CI=3.02-22.59)and 3.05(95% CI=1, 1.23-7.57)respectively.Odd ratios of interaction between H. pylori infection and IL-1B-31T/T, IL-1B-511C/C, non-IL-1RN were 16.75(95% CI=3.64-77.04), 41.42(95% CI=8.96-191.40), 4.93(95% CI=1.35-17.99), and γ was 1.22, 1.7, 0.84 respectively.
Conclusion H. pylori infection and IL-1B-31T/T, IL-1B-511 C/C synerg istically determine susceptibility to duodenal ulcer, IL-1RN can reduce the risk effect of H. pylori infection. The interaction is helpful to explain the complexity of H. pylor-iasso-ciated disease.
