Abstract:
Objective To explore the environmental risk factors of type 1 diabetes in Shanghai.
Methods 1:4 matched case control study was used to carry out this investigation.Cases were forty children with type 1 diabetes who were in hospital or clinic follow-up in endocrine division in Children's Hospital Fudan Medical Unviersity from May to December, 2003.Controls were one hundred and sixty normal children selected from community in shanghai.Univariate and multivariate conditional Logisitic regression was used to analyze the database.
Results Results of the multiivar iate conditional Logisitic regressive analysis showed children's infection, passive smoking and infection in pregnancy had significant relationship with type 1 diabetes; the odds ratios were 9.399, 22.361 and 12.833 respectively.
Conclusion children's infection, passive smoking and infection in pregnancy were environmental risk factors of type 1 diabetes
