Abstract:
Objective To investigate STD/AIDS related knowledge, attitude, practice(KAP)and other characteristics among market vendors in Hefei city.
Methods Questionaire was used to investiage maket vendors between 18-64 years old, which were selected by cluster-sampling method in three congregating trading markets.
Results 752 marked vendors completed the questionnaire, with an answer rate of 78.6%.The MVs had poor knowledge of STD/AIDS.The rates of correct answers to questions about STD/AIDS varied between 21.1%-81.9%.More than 50% of the MVs had a negative attitude toward HIV-infected.Among the subjects, 27.7% had premarital or extramarital sex.15.9% used condoms in the past 12 months.
Conclusion Market vendors may be vulnerable for acquiring STD/HIV.It is crucial to implement STD/HIV prevenion interventions for them to stop a potential increase of STD/HIV.
