Abstract:
Objective To study the effect of soybean isoflavone and calcium on mineral and the expression of bone BMP2, TGF-β1 in ovariectomized rats.
Methods Twenty eight female SD rats were randomly divided into four groups: sham, ovariectomized, ovariectomized added calcium〔50 mg/(kg°d)〕, ovariectomized added soybean isoflavone〔100 mg/(kg°d)〕.The content of serum and urine calcium, sodium, potassium were deter mined after ten weeks. The Streptavidin-Peroxidase HistostainTM-Plus Kits was used to detect bone BMP2 and TGF-β1 expression.
Results The calcium, sodium of serum and urine in ovariectomized group increased significantly. The bone mineral density, and potassium of serum and urine, bone BMP2 and TGF-β1 decreased significantly. The serum calcium and urine calcium, sodium in ovariectomized added soybean isoflavone group decreased significantly, but the bone mineral density and bone BMP2 and TGF-β1 expression increased significantly(P < 0.05 orP < 0.01).Only the TGF-β1 expression in ovariectomized added calcium group had significantly increace than that of ovariectomized group(P < 0.05).
Conclusion The soybean isoflavone may adjust the mineral metabolism and prompt the bone BMP2, TGF-β1 expression to prevent the osteoporosis of ovariectomized rats.
