Abstract:
Objective To investigate effects of compound cordyceps sinesis(CCS)against cadmium-induced serum sexual hormons in male rats.
Methods Rats were injected CdCl with a dose of 1 mg/(kg#wight), at the same time the rats were given with 2.5%, 5%, 10% CCS(1ml/100g).The serum testosterone, follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone were determined by radioimmunoassay, and the quality of serum were examined.
Results A significant reduction in the weight of the testis, the sperm population, motility of the epididymis were recorded in rats treated with cadmium alone. This was accompanied by an increase of malforme sperm in epididymis.High-dose CCS given resulted in partial recovery of the reproductive parameters studied(P < 0.05).A significant lower serum testosterone concentration was recorded in rats treated with CdCl2 alone(P < 0.05).High-dose CCS could increase serum testosterone level as compared with CdCl2 alone group(P < 0.05).
Conclusion CCS extract exerted striking protective effecs on cadmium-induced reproductive toxicity.
