Abstract:
Objective To study rare earth level in blood and its relationship with health of residents with long-time and low-level expoure.
Methods To selecte two villages residents living in rare earth ore central area as exposed group and one village residents from the same county living in non-rare earth ore area as control group. To use ICP-MS to measure residents blood rare earth level and at the same time examine 25 index to reflect residents health condition.SPSS was used to analyze data.
Results In ex posed and contro l groups, 328 and 284 residents were studied and their aver age rare earth total amount in blood were 4.929 and 1.684 μg/L respectively.R are earth total amount in blood and 15 rate earth elements in exposed group were higher than control group significantly(P=0.000).The highest amount element of rate earth elements in blood was La and then were Ce and Nd.The total proportion of La, Ce, Nd in exposed and control groups were 68.72% and 68.62% respectively. In exposed group, systolic blood pressure was lower, pulse was more rapid, hand twist speed was slower and WBC, HGB, HCT, PLT, blood Ca, blood glucose were lower than those in control group.Residents whose HGB, PLT, blood Ca, blood glucose lower than normal value were much more in exposed group than in control group significantly.
Conclusion Rare earth level in blood in exposed group was higher than in control group significantly.Rare earth in blood of residents in Xunwu was mainly La, Ce, Nd and other light rare earth elements.Residents exposure to rare earth may influence blood pressure, blood cell, nervous reflection, blood Ca and glucose.
