High mobility group box 1 protein signaling pathway combined with AKT regulates airway remodeling: a review

  • 摘要: 哮喘和慢性阻塞性肺疾病(COPD)是威胁人类健康的主要疾病,此类慢性炎症相关气道疾病的形成往往均伴随着气道的渐行性重构。近年来对于哮喘、COPD以及动脉粥样硬化等疾病的深入研究发现,高迁移率族蛋白1(HMGB1)能够通过调控平滑肌细胞的活动从而影响气道或血管的重构。本文阐述了HMGB1对向平滑肌细胞分化的调控,并结合目前研究结果推测蛋白激酶B(AKT)的参与可能在HMGB1调控平滑肌或间充质细胞的机制中发挥的关键作用,旨在揭示哮喘和COPD等疾病的分子机制并发现新的治疗途径。

     

    Abstract: Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are major diseases threatening human health. The formation of airway diseases associated with chronic inflammation is often accompanied by progressive airway remodeling. In recent years, in-depth studies on asthma, COPD and atherosclerosis have found that high mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) can affect airway or vascular remodeling by regulating the activity of smooth muscle cells. This review summarizes the regulation of HMGB1 on differentiation of smooth muscle cells; combined with the current research results, it is speculated that the involvement of protein kinase B (AKT) may play a key role in the regulation of smooth muscle or mesenchymal cells by HMGB1. Further studies will reveal more about the molecular mechanisms of asthma and COPD and find new therapeutic approaches.
