Abstract:
Objective To evaluate viscose rayon workers for cardiovascular manifestations resulting from exposure to carbon disulfide at the level of the threshold limit value of 10mg/m
3 long-term.
Methods In a cross-sectional study we investigated 367 workers occupationally exposed to CS
2 and a control group(
n=125).
Results there was a singificant increase in the serum levels of total cholesterol and ApoB(
P<0.05).These differences could also be confirmed statisically after multiple stepwise regression analysis.No differences were noted as to concentration of Hdl-ch、Ldl-ch、ApoA-I and so on among three groups.
Conclusion The findings may indicate that exposure to CS
2 can increase the levels of total cholesterol and ApoB in the serum,namely,low-level exposure to CS
2 long-term could increase the risk of workes developing CS
2-indued cardiovascular abnormalities.
