Abstract: ObjectiveTo under stand what is the currenthelath conditions of our senior citizens and produce a strategy bto provide better health care for our senior citizens in Shenzhen.MethodsWe had done a health study in Shenzhen on the health conditions of senior citizens aged 60 and above in relat ions to common illness and diseases during the period between July 2001 and December 2001.ResultsOur health study had included 3 841 subjects who are older than 60 years.We found out that the top 6 most common illness within this group is arteriosclerosis of retina,cataract pearl eye,hyperplasia of prostate,hypercholesteremia hyper cholesteolemia,fatty liver hepar adiposum,high blood pressure.ConclusionWe have to provide early preventive measures for our senior citizens by improving their health education level especially on heart attacks, heart diseases,sickness prevention,diets,preventive medicines.
