Abstract:
Objective To study obesity induced by high energy diet and its effects on lipid metabolism of rat.
Methods The rats were divided into two groups, one fed with basic diet and the other with high energy diet. At the end of the 7th week, different indexes were tested such as body weight, body fat content, blood lipid, leptin, SOD, MDA and GSH-Px.
Results High energy diet induced obesity. Compared with basic diet group, the levels of triglyceride, cholesterol and leptin in serum increased significantly (P < 0.05 and P < 0.01). The activity of GSH-Px increased and SOD decreased significantly (P < 0.05), the level of MDA increased, but there was no significant diference between two groups (P > 0.05).
Conclusion High energy diet induced obese rats to cause leptin resistance and the disorder of lipid metabolism, and made the activity of body antioxidation lower.
