Abstract:
Objective To investigate the effect of cigarette smoke solution and sodium arsenite on viability and oxidative stress of rat lymphocytes and to study their interaction.
Methods Cigarette smoke solution with or without sodium arsenite were added to ratly mphocytes.Alamar Blue reduction rate was detected and used to evaluate viability of cells; Reduced glutathione and malondialdehyde were detected and used to evaluate oxidative stress; 2×3 factorial design was used to evaluate the interaction.
Results Alamar Blue reduction rate and reduced glutathione of all experimental groups were significantly lower, whereas malondialdehyde was significantly hig her.The results of the factor ial design showed: Cigarette smoke solution and sodium arsenite had no interaction on Alamar Blue reduction rate, while, they had the interaction on reduced glutathione and malondialdehyde.
Conclusion Cigarette smoke solution with or without sodium arsenite decrease viability of cells and raise their oxidative stress, mor eover, they have the interaction on oxidative stress of cells.
