Relationship between MT1B gene polymorphism and type 2 diabetes mellitus

      目的   探讨16号染色体上MT1B(metallothionein 1B)基因多态性与2型糖尿病的关系。
      方法   采用聚合酶链式反应-限制性内切酶片段长度多态性(PCR-RFLP)的方法, 检测中国北方汉族379人的基因型, 其中包括146例2型糖尿病患者和232名正常对照。
      结果   MT1B基因的2个SNPs(SNP1和SNP2)的等位基因和基因型在病例组和对照组的频数分布差异无统计学意义(P > 0.05)。
      结论   在中国北方汉族人群中MT1B基因SNP1和SNP2位点多态性可能与2型糖尿病无关联。

     

    Abstract:
      Objective   To investigate the relationship between metallothionein 1B(MT1B)gene locus on chromosome 16 and type 2 diabetes mellitus in Chinese Han people.
      Methods   The PCR-RFLP method was employed to detect the genotypes of MT1B gene in 379 subjects including 146 patients with T2DM(case group)and 232 unrelated healthy individuals.
      Results   No significant differences were found in the frequencies of allele and genotype of the two SNPs(SNP1 and SNP2)of MT1B gene between the case and the control(P > 0.05).
      Conclusion   There is no genetic association between the MT1B gene SNP1 and SNP2 polymorphism and T2DM in the Han descent population in the North of China.
