Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the current status of cost of stroke in Wenzhou and its influencing factors.
Methods The study population included 1037 patients who were admitted to the first affiliated hospital of Wenzhou medical college. The composition of cost for care of 1037 stroke patients was analyzed.ANOVA and Multivariate regression analysis were used to determine the influencing factors of costs.
Results 48.62% and 15.85% of total cost was attributed to medications and therapy, respectively.Total hospital costs were correlated strongly with length of stay, respiratory infection, unconscious, incontinent, upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage, Urinary tract infection, stroke subtype, admission ward and modified rankin scale(mRS)at admission.
Conclusion Scientific and effective measures focusing on stroke should be recommended.Reducing unnecessary stay in hospital and appropriate prescribing are the key to reduce cost of hospital patients.
