Abstract:
Objective To investigate the variation of serum pepsinogen(PG)in patients with Helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection before and after the eradication.
Methods Three methods was used to determine the result of eradication 6 weeks after treatment in 287 patients with Hp infection, who were treated for eradication by routine triple therapy.: Hp-DNAPCR, HEstaining and ELISAanalysis.Serum PGconcentrations were detected with immunoradiometric assay(IRMA)in patients with Hp infection before and 3, 6 weeks after treatment.
Results Compared with serum level before treatment, serum PGIand PGIIconcentrations decreased in the eradication group, and PGI/IIratio also increased significantly. There were no remarkable changes with serum PGconcentrations in uneradication group.
Conclusion There are specific changes of serum PGconcentrations before and after the eradication.Serum PGconcentrations can be used as the index of Hp eradication.
