Abstract:
Objective To determine the association of high-sensitivity C-Reactive Protein(hs-CRP).And metabolic syndrome(MS)and its influencing factors in men and women of Chinese.
Methods In this cross-sectional study, total 2 330 (1 039 men and 1 291 women)part icipants were included.MS criteria was defined by IDF.All Participants body height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, body mass index(BMI), hs-CRP level, blood fat, fasting glucose, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein were measured.Logistic regression was used analyze the association of hs-CRP level and MS in men and women.
Results The risk of developing MS incr eased with the level hs-CRP in women(P < 0.01), but there's no association in men(P=0.08).This association still existed after adjusted age, smoking, drinking, family history of hypertension and family history of diabetes in women. However, the association was no longer significant after further adjusted the BMI.
Conclusion BMI is the main influencing factor of the level of hs-CRP.The risk of developing MS increased with the level hs-CRP in women, but not in men.
