Abstract: ObjectiveTo evaluate the intervention effect of mother's behavior on feeding in the activity of care for children of the preliminary health care project,so as to provide scientific evidence for improving child health indicators and status of child growth and development.MethodsThe baseling survey and line survey was done during the July and August in 2001 and 2005.To use PPS sampling method to select investigated mothers in 9 provinces of western China,then to analyze it through biostatistics methods.ResultsThe percentage of iron cooking,drinking boiling water,eating iodic salt and separating meal for children was increased from 88.9%,76.5%,61.1% and 54.3% in 2001 to 94.4%、86.4%、83.3% and 61.7% in 2005.The exclusive breast feeding rate was increased in 2005.The percentage of lactation within 6 month children,adding egg during month 6～8 and adding bean products during month 9～11 was from 4.9%,31.8% and 7.1% in 2001 to 13.0%,47.6% and 10.9% in 2005.ConclusionThe health habit of mother was changed;The feeding behavior was improved by the project intervention measures.
