Effects of nutrition on lifespan, development and fecundity of blattella germanica

Abstract: ObjectiveTo explore the effects of different nutr itional conditions on the lifespan, development and fecundity of the nymphs and imagoes of blattella germanica.MethodsThe testing insects are fed on the different nutritional conditions with a different food and water availabilities, and their survival times, the developmental and reproductive status are recorded and compared.ResultsOn the feeding conditions without food and water, with food and no water, and with water and no food, the mean lifespan of the nymphs for blattella germanica were 8.667,8.634,41.623 days respectively, with a slow growth and development. And the mean lifespan of their counter partimagoes were 9.750,10.485,48.735 days respectively, some of the female imagoes can continue breeding, but with a lower hatching rate.ConclusionAlthough blattella germanica's resistance to the hungry is strong, the water is an indispensable nutrient for its survival, and the food is also an important element for their growth, development and reproduction.
