Abstract:
ObjectiveTo study the effects of high selenium panaxjaponicus extracts on serum lipids and antioxidative enzyme in hyperlipidemic rats.
MethodsThe hyperlipidemic model was established by feeding rats with high-fat diet. After 4 weeks the serum lipids and antioxidative enzymes content were determined respectively.
ResultsCompared with the model,high-selenium
panax japonicus extracts lowered the serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-c)malondialdehyde(MDA),increased high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-c),total antioxidative capacity(T-AOC),superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathioneperoxidaes(GSH-Px)activities significantly(
P<0.05 or
P<0.01).
ConclusionHigh-selenium
panax japonicus extracts can lower the serum lipid level, enhance the antioxidation and inhibit the lipid peroxidation in the rats with hyperlipidemia.
