Abstract:
Objective To explore subjective well-being and related factors of impoversihed students in normal university and to provide substantial evidences for mental health education.
Methods Subjective Well-being Scale,EPQ-RSC,Interpersonal Trust Scale were used for examining 218 impoverished students and 216 non-impover ished students.
Results Impoverished studentsc life satisfact ion and positive affection were significantly lower than those of non-impoverished students(
t=4.811,
P<0.001;
t=2.043,
P<0.05).There was no significant gender difference in subjective well-being,but significant grades difference in impoverished studentsc life satisfaction(
F=3.547,
P<0/.05).Grade1 students had signifcantly higher life satisfaction than Grade 2 and Grade 3.Correlative analysis showed that subjective well-being correlated significantly with personality,social support,and related most closely to neuroticism(
r=0.322,0.444,-0.322,
P<0.01) and extraversion(
r=-0.396,-0.339,0.559,
P<0.01).Regression analysis revealed that neuroticism was a significant predictor of life satisfaction and negative affection(β=0.513,
P<0.001;β=-0.344,
P<0.001).Extraversion was a significant predictor of positive affection(β=0.277,
P<0.001).
Conclusion Personality played an important role in subjective wel-lbeing in impover ished students of normal university.
