Abstract:
ObjectiveTo study the protective effect of sodium calcium edetate(EDTA)on kidney injury in chronic lead poisoning patients.
MethodsThe 52 chronic lead poisoning workers were treated with EDTA for 3 years. The blood lead(PbB),erythrocyte zinc protoporphyrin(ZPP),urine β
2-microglobulin(U-β
2-MG),urine retinal conjugated protein(U-RBP),urine β-N-acetylyluco-samidase(U-NAG)of the workers were dynamically detected.
ResultsAll of the indices of poisoning worker were higher than that of control group before EDTA treatment(
P<0.01).After continuously treatment of EDTA,the values of the indices decreased year by year and the differences in the values between each year were significant(
P<0.01).
ConclusionThe EDTA treatment is protective to the kidney injury in chronic lead poisoning patients.
