Abstract: Objective To investigate the early death and disability caused by malignant neoplasms in urban residents.Methods The index of disability-adjusted life year (DALY) was adopted to evaluate the disease burden of malignant neoplasms.Results The ranks of top four malignant neop lasms were the sam a for years lived with disability (LD)and prevalence rate.The ranks of the top six malignant neop lasms were the same for DALY and mortality.In 2000,the top five disease burden of malignancy in the urban residents of Chongqing according to DALY were lung,liver,esophagus,stomach,and colon-rectum cancer.Conclusion The focus for malignant neoplasms prevention and treatn ent in urban residents of Chongqing is lung,liver,colon-rectum，stomach,and esophagus cancer.
