Abstract: Objective To explore the association of lipoprote in(a)LP(a)with diabetes(DM).Methods The study was based on a population of Jiangsu province.The association of LP(a)with DM was analyzed in a cross-sectional study with 2330 subjects aged 35-75 years.Results The prevalence of DM increased with LP(a)leve.lLP(a)corre lated cloesly with trig lyce rides,loosely correlated with low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C).No significant association was found between LP(a)and LDL-C.After adjusted for other factors,LP(a)was still significantly associated with DM.After ad justed for lipoproteins,the ORs for DM caused by LP(a)reduced from 6.6 to 2.2(P<0.001).Conclusion LP(a)is an independen trisk factor of DM.LP(a)maybe one of the underlying pathogenic risk factors for DM and its complications.
