Abstract: ObjectiveTo understand the desire and its related factors of rural doctors to participate in appropriate technical training.MethodsBasic conditions and the desire for appropriate technical training of 3 933 rural doctors randomly selected from 6 counties were studied with a self-administered questionnaire.ResultsAmong the rural doctors investigated, 97.79% desired for appropriate medical technology training.There was a significant difference in the percentage of doctors willing to take the training program between rural doctors trained 1-3 times(98.37%)or>3 times(98.44%)and un-trained doctors(91.64%)in 2007(P<0.05).Satisfaction to training program,working in the clinic appointed by the New Cooperative Medical Assurance,and affirming the necessity of appropriate medical technology promotion were positively correlated with the desire for the training program.ConclusionThe professional background and ability of rural doctors in Liaoning province was lower.Excellent rural doctors should be selected for appropriate medical technology training program.Measures and policies should be made to increase positivity for medical tracining among rural doctors.
