Abstract: ObjectiveTo understand plasma lipid level and its related factors among residents in Yugu minority area for the prevention and control of plasma lipid abnormality in the population.MethodsA total of 1 119 adults(≥18 years old)living in Yugu minority area more than 15 years were selected with stratified cluster random sampling for a cross-sectional investigation.Standard physical examination,plasma total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoproteincholoesterol(LDL-C),and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C)detections were conducted.The distribution characters of the indexes and related factors were analyzed.ResultsThe concentrations of TC,TG,LDL-C,and HDL-C were 4.37±1.0,1.92±1.28,2.65±0.89,and 1.47±0.39 mmol/L,respectively,among the adults.The plasma TC and TG levels of the males were higher than that of the females(P<0.01).But the plasma HDL-C level of the females was higher than that of the males(P<0.01).The plasma TC,LDL-C and HDL-C levels in the adults of Yugu minority were higher than those of in the adults of Han and Tibetan minority(P<0.01).However,the plasma TG level in Han adults was higher than that of Yugu and Tibetan minority adults(P<0.05).The plasma TG,TC and LDL-C levels increased with age(P<0.01)and decreased in the group of more than 65 years.Obvious direct correlations were observed between plasma lipid level and hypertension,overweight,and abdomen obesity(P<0.01).ConclusionThe plasma lipid level of adult population in Yugu minority area in Gansu province was higher than that of the whole nation.There are significant correlations between plasma lipid level and hypertention,overweight,and obesity among the population.
