Abstract: Objective To investigate life quality and its influencing factors among the elderly in Shenzhen.Methods A questionnaire survey was carried out among 792 transient and resident senior citizens randomly selected in Shenzhen with 36 Iterms Shout From Healath Survey(SF-36)(Chinese version).Results The score of life quality in resident seniorcitizens(561.88±102.12)was higher than that of tran sient citizens(520.40±95.42).There were significant differences in physical function,physical role,general health,social function,mental health dmiension scores between resident senior citizens(85 54?25 011,60.42±55.99,69.52±30.828,79.61±34.307,66.83±27.455)and transient citizens(73.89±26.359,52.41±55.040,64.49±29.978,58.04±28.939;P<0.05 for all).The top 5 influencing factors of life quality for the elderly were suffering from chronic disease,age,personal income,medical expense,marital status,self care ablilty,and living status.Conclusion Over all,the elderly in Shenzhen has good life quality.The life quality of resident senior citizens is better than that of transient citizens.The main factor influencing the elderly's life quality is suffering from chronic disease.
