Abstract: Objective To study the voluntary counseling and testing(VCT) and voluntary counseling and referral(VCR) related knowledge and utilization among the residents atage of child bearing in Shanghai and to provide basis for VCT and VCR.Methods With multi stage sampling strategy, residents from three communities were recruited to participate a face to face in terviewwith a structured questionnaire.Results There were 1500 subjects in the study and the subjects had lowlevel of VCT related knowledge with an average score of 45.72±24.55.Multivariant analysis found that the subjects education level and their knowledge of AIDS were the main influence factors of VCR.The rate of people who received the service of VCT and VCR were 5.53% and 6.00%.Among the subjects, 55.87% were willing to accept VCT and 53.73% to VCR, respectively.Conclusion VCT related knowledge level was lowand utilizations were lmiited among the residents atage of child bearing in Shanghai city.VCT and VCR-related knowledge need to be improved with multimodel strategies.
