Abstract:
ObjectiveTo know the morphology, culture, biochemistry, and drug sensitivity of
Ochrobactrum anthropi and to establish a suitable methods for its identification.
MethodsOchrobactrum anthropi was isolated with modified MacLonkey agar(with cefoperazone added)and identified by API20E,VITEC2GN.The drug sensitivity of Ochrobactrum anthropi was determined with AST-GN10.
ResultsFrom 206 samples,there were 21
Ochrobactrum anthropi strains isolated. The isolated strains could not utilize glucose and alcohol. The results of drug sensitivity test on
Ochrobactrum anthropi strains showed minimal inhibitory concentrations(MIC)of ≥128 for ticacilin and piperacilin,≥64 for cephalosporin antibiotics,and≤1 for tetracycline, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, meropenem, and imipenem.
ConclusionModified Mac-lonkey agar(with cefoperazone added)is suitable for the detection and identification of
Ochrobactrum anthropi in clinical laboratory and natural environment.
Ochrobactrum anthropi is highly resistant to β-lactamase-producing antibiotics.
