Abstract: ObjectiveTo study the morbidity rate and characteristics of typer 2 diabetes(DM)and metabolic syndrome(MS)in the Buluotuo Zhang and Han ethnic population.MethodsOverall 3 000 Buluotuo Zhuang and 2 000 Han ethnic people in Tianyang county were selected and their height,weight,blood pressure,fasting blood glucose(FBG),two hours postprandial glucose(2hPG),triglyceride(TG),and total cholesterl(TC)were measured and compared.ResultsThe morbidity rate of DM in the Buluotuo Zhuang people was 8.53% (9.44% for male,6.67% for female)and that of Han people was 6.50% (7.49% for male,4.39% for female).The morbidity rate of DM in Buluotuo Zhuang was higer than that of in Han(P<0.05).The morbidity rate of DM in male was higer than that of in female among Buluotuo Zhuang (P<0.05).The morbidity rate of MS in the Buluotuo Zhuang nationality people was 21.90% (23.69% for male,18.43% for female)and that of in Han people was 18.10% (20.19% for male,13.64% for female).The morbidity rate of MS in Buluotuo Zhuang was higer than that of Han(P<0.05).The morbidity rate of MS of male was higer than that of female among Buluotuo Zhuang(P<0.01).The abnormality of TC,low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C)and hypertension in Buluotuo Zhuang were higer than those of Han(P<0.05).But awareness,treatment,and control rate of DM in Buluotuo Zhuang were lower than those of Han(P<0.05).ConclusionThe morbidity rates of DM and MS in Buluotuo Zhang are higer than those of Han ethnic population but awareness,treatment,and control rate of DM in Buluotuo Zhuang are low er than those of Han ethnic population.
