Abstract:
ObjectiveTo study the risk factors of type 2 diabetes among residents of Jingning county,Zhejiang province and to provide reference for intervention measures.
MethodsA hospital-based case-control study was conducted from January to December,2009 among 501 patients with type 2 diabetes patients and 501 healthy subjects with a questionnaire survey.
ResultsAmong the cases,the proportions of diabetes history among first-degree relatives,preference for sweets, eating fried foods,frequent alcohol consumption,drinking beverages frequently,history of hypertension,history of high blood sugar,tending to be stress or excitement,and history of giving a birth to macrosonia were 19.36%,72.46%,60.08%, 40.52%,28.74%,34.33%,10.98%,16.97%,and 16.97%,respectively,and significantly higher than those of the control group(5.39%,36.73%,25.55%,29.94%,21.16%,5.99%,1.00%,4.59%,and 4.79%)(
P<0.01 for all).Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that family history of diabetes,preference for sw eets,eating fried foods,alcohol and beverage consumption,history of hypertension,history of high blood sugar,tending to stress or excitement,and giving a birth to macrosonia were major risk factors for type 2 diabetes among the residents of Jingning county.
ConclusionResidents with some genetic factor,unheathy eating habits,chronic disease,mental stress,and giving birth to macrosonia are more prone to have type 2 diabetes.
