Abstract: Objective To develop the Medical Staff Coping Questionnaire and to examine its reliability and validity.Methods Item analysis,semi-structured survey were used to collect itemt.Two convenience samples were selected from four general hospitals in Anhui province.Sample 1(n=286) was investigated for item analysis and explorative factor analysis and detemination of final items and dimensions.Sample 2(n=392) was administered with the final questionnaire for the reliability and validity evaluation of the questionnaire.Trait Coping Style Questionnaire(TCSQ) was used to test its criterion validity.Results The Medical Staff Coping Questionnaire was consisted of 25 items and comprised of three factors:avoiding coping,emotion coping,problem solving.The results of structure equation model(SEM) were fit well(χ²/df=2.575,normed fit indexNFI=0.849,confirmatory fit indexCFI=0.902,root mean square error of approximationRMSEA=0.067).The correlation coefficient of the Medical Staff Copling Questionnaire with TCSQ were 0.361(P<0.001).The Coronach's α of three dimensions and of whole questionnaire were 0.836,0.753,0.758,and 0.815.The test-retest coefficient of the Medical Staff Coping Questionnaire was 0.886.Conclusion The Medical Staff Coping Questionnaire has good reliability and validity,and can be used to measure the stress coping among medical staff.
