Abstract: Objective To explore the expression and significance of casein kinase 2 α(CK2α)in ovarian tumors and to analyze the correlation between CK2α expression and matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP-2).Methods Surgical specimens in paraffin of simple ovarian cysts,benign ovarian tumor and ovarian cancer tissue,and normal ovarian tissue were collected.The expression levels of CK2α and MMP-2 were detected with immunohistochemical streptavidin-peroxidase conjugate(SP)method.Results The expression of CK2α protein in ovarian cancer was significantly higher than that in simple ovarian cysts and benign ovarian tumor(P <0.01).The expression of CK2α protein was correlated with histological type and clinical stage of the cancer(P <0.05).Positive correlation was observed between the expression of CK2α and MMP-2(r=0.372).Conclusion The upregulation of CK2α expression and its correlation with MMP-2 are related to the progression and metastasis of ovarian carcinoma.
