Abstract:
Objective To assess measles antibody level among healthy residents in Jinzhong municipality of Shanxi province in 2015 and to provide references for prevention and control of measles.
Methods A questionnaire survey and serum antimeasles immunoglobulin G (IgG) detection were performed among 2 918 healthy residents selected with probability proportionate to size sampling (PPS) from 11 prefectures, counties,or districts and a development zone in Jinzhong municipality city between May and October 2015.
Results Of the 2 918 participants,2 315 were antimeasles IgG positive, with a positive rate of 79.34% and a geometric mean concentration (GMC) of 503.75 mIU/mL; the GMC of antimeasles IgG was 605.86 mIU/mL for the antimeasles IgG positive participants. There were significant differences in positive rate and GMC of antimeasles IgG among the participants at various age and with different measles virus vaccination history (
P < 0.05 for all) and in the GMC of antimeasles IgG among the participants living in different areas (
P < 0.05); in addition, there were significant between-age and between-region differences in the GMC of antimeasles IgG among the antimeasles IgG positive participants (both
P < 0.05).
Conclusion The measles antibody level is low among healthy residents in Jinzhong municipality the measles antibody level is different among the residents with different age, measles virus vaccination history, and residential area.
