Abstract: Objective To analyze the trend and level of maternal mortality rate (MMR) from 2005 to 2014 in Hainan province and to provide evidences for reducing MMR.Methods Data on MMR during the period from 2005 to 2014 in Hainan province were collected from maternal surveillance networks at three administrative levels and change trend and regional difference in MMR were analyzed Results Totally 103 3181 live births and 269 maternal deaths were registered in Hainan during the period,with an average MMR of 26.04/100 000,which was lower than the average national level,and an average annual reduction rate of 5.96%.The MMR in urban areas declined faster than that in the rural areas.The MMR in regions with Han populations was lower than those with minority populations.Conclusion MMR decreased obviously in Hainan province in the last decade and it is in a stable reduction period.
