Relationship between social support,personality and subjective well-being in migrant workers

  • Objective To exarmine the relationship between social support,personality and subject well-being(SWB) and their interactive mechanism in migrant workers.Methods Totally 245 migrant workers in Xi'an and 204 peasants at home were evaluated with Social Supporting Rating Scale(SSRS),Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ),and Subject Well-being Scale.Results The scores of subjective support,subjective well-being,and the introverted and extroverted personality in the migrant workers were 22.35±4.70,14.84±6.15,and 11.35±3.59,respectively.Correlation analyses indicated that subjective support was significantly positively associated with SWB(r=0.225,P<0.001). Meanwhile,the introverted and extroverted personality was dramatically positively associated with the subjective support (r=0.151,P<0.05).Subjective support was a significant predictor for SWB and introverted and extroverted personality affected SWB through the mediation of subjective suport.Conclusion SWB of migrant workers is inferior to the peasants at home.The introverted and extroverted personality and the subjective support are important factors influencing SWB in migrant workers.
