Relationship between psychosocial factors and quality of life among postoperative patients with stomach cancer

  • Objective To explore the relationship between psychosocial factors and the quality of life among postoperative patients with stomach cancer.Methods The sample was consisted of 231 postoperative patients with stomach cancer in two province-level hospitals in Fuzhou city during the periods from January 2008 to January 2009.The cases were surveyed by trained interviewers with constructed questionnaires.The multiple regression method was used to analyze the effect of psychosocial factors on quality of life of the patients.Results Depression was an important risk factor for the quality of life in the patients(β=0.916,P<0.05)and the social support was the main favorable factor for the quality of life (β=-0.886,P<0.05).Conclusion It is important to alleviate depression symptoms and increase social support to improve the quality of life of postoperative patients with stomach cancer.
