Correlation between interleukin-1β-511C/T polymorphism and chronic heart failure

Objective To explore the correlation between polymorphism at position-511C/T in the promotor region of interleukin-1β(IL-1β)and chronic heart failure.Methods A total of 160 subjects were selected and divided into chronic heart failure group and healthy group.Genomic DNA was extracted from 5ml vein blood and polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism technique was applied to analyze the polymorphsim of IL-1β-511C/T.Results The results showed the frequency of T was higher in chronic heart failure group than in healthy group(56.25% vs 38.75%,P<0.05).Conclusion The polymorphism at position-511C/T in IL-1β is associated with chronic heart failure and T allele is the susceptibility genetic mark in some patients.
