Detection of human calicivirus in different water samples from Guangzhou city

  • Objective To assess the prevalence of human calicivirus(HuCV)contamination in different water samples from Guangzhou city. Methods Totally 268 tap water,715 mineral w ater,119 living sew age,and 53 pool water samples were collected. All the samples were detected with real-time fluorogenic quantitative PCR for HuCV(including GⅠ,GⅡNorw alk-like viruseNLVs,and Sapora-like virusesSLVs).Results The positive rate of HuCV for the samples was 9.24%,11.32%,0,and 0,respectively;the positive rate of GⅠNLVs,GⅡNLVs,GⅠSLVs,and GⅡSLVs for domestic sewage samples was 2.52%,7.56%,0 and 0;the positive rate of GⅠ/GⅡNLVs and GⅠ/GⅡSLVs for pool water samples was 1.89%,9.43%,0,and 1.89%,respectively.GⅠNLVs and GⅡNLVs were detected in one domestic sewage sample;GⅡNLVs and SLVs contamination were detected in one pool water sample. Conclusion The drinking water in Guangzhou area is safe, but different genotypes of HuCV contamination exists in other water samples.
