A Study on Zinc Requirement in Childhood Aged 5~6 Years Old

  • Based on present Chinese dietary composition、nutritional condition and zinc metabolic balance,we suggest that 5-6mg dietary zinc intake is enough for children 5-6 years old.5-6mg zinc intake could be the zinc requirement for them at present. We gave a multiple regression formula to estimate zinc intake:Zinc intake=-0.426+0.053×protein intake(g)+0.003×phosphorus intake(mg)+0.234×zinc retention(mg)+0.078×fiber intake(g).Dietary factors influencing zinc requirements have been identified.Zinc requirements will change with the different levels of dietary factors.
