Analysis of Long Chain Fatty Acids Composition of Maternal and Neonatal Plasma.

  • Objective This study analysed plasmal long-chain fatty acids composition of 20 healthy.Method Normal perinatal maternal blood(M)and their umbilical cord blood(U)by gasliquid chromatography. Results Arachidonic acid(AA)and do cosahexaenoic acid(DHA)contents of U were significantly higher than M (P<0.001);DHA was highly related to DHA level of M(r2=0.76,P<0.001);AA content of U was related to AA and linoleic acid(LA)level of M(P<0.05,P<0.001).Conclusions The developong fetus migtht be preferentially supplied with DHA via the placenta; The usage of n-3 and n-6 fatty acid in fetus might be different.
