Effects of Electrodes on the By-product CHCl3 Produced in the Electrochemical Disinfection

  • Objective To evaluate the effects of electrodes on the production situation and the by-product CHCl3 produced in the electrochemical disinfection processes.Method Taking filtering water,the graphite and Ti(matrix)-Ti are used as electrodes,adjusting the current analyzing sample in different time,under different the production of CHCl3 conditions are reviewed.Results The results show that the production of CHCl3 in the electrolysis used Ti(matrix)-Ti is more than that used the graphite.The more the current,the more the production of CHCl3.With the length of electrolysis time,the production of CHCl3 increase,and it is the most production on 20 minutes.Conclusions In the electrochemical disinfection processes,we should use the graphite and the current should be under 1 mA/cm2,the leng th of electrolysis is under 10 minutes.
