Situation of Perinatal Health Services in Poor Rural Areas and it’s Effect on MMR and NMR

Objective To investigate the situation of perinatal health services in poor rural areas and its effect on the MMR and NMR of the same places.Methods Some data about MMR,NMR,population,economy and perinatal health was analyzed inmultiple-factor and multilevel regression analysis method and the data was collected from 113 poor counties of five provinces of China in 1997.Results The MMR and NMR were respectively 159.30 per one hundred thousands and 39 76 per thousand.The prenatal checking up rate was 60.90%,hospital delivery rate was 30.57%,cleaned delivery rate was 58.03%,postnatal visit rate was 33.77%.From multiple-factor analysis showed thathospital delivery rate and cleaned delivery r ate are negatively correlative with MMR,and pr enatal checking up rate is negatively cor relative with NMR.Conclusion The service level of perinatal health in poor rural areas of the five provinces was lower,which may have influence on the MMR and NMR of these areas.So,it was necessary thathospital delivery rate,clean delivery rate and prenatal checking up rate should be increased in these areas.
