Compariative Study on Detecting Anti-HEV IgG in Sera Using Three Different Hepatitis E Virus Antigens

  • ObjectiveThe reference panel of anti HEV IgG and sera collected from patients with acute hepatitis E were detected using three different hepatitis E virus(HEV) antigens enzyme linked immune assays (ELISAs).MethodsThe sensitivity(90.0%) and specificity(100.0%) and coincidence rates(97.5%) of the synthetic HEV peptides(BMU antigen)were higher than those of the two recombinant proteins (JP antigen and HKU antigen) for detection of anti HEV IgG in the reference panel. The anti HEV IgG positive rate of BMU ELISA(100.0%) was higher than those of JP and HKU(98.8% and 84.5%,respectively)when the patients, sera with acute hepatitis E were tested.ResultsThe data showed that different HEV antigens had different sensitivity and specificity for detection of anti HEV in sera. The antigen encoded by HEV LRF3 was important for detecting antibody in acute sera of patients with hepatitis E.ConclusionBoth ORF2 and ORF3 antigens should be used for development of anti HEV IgG ELISA kit.
