Protective Effect of BHT on Skin Photoaging Induced by UV

  • ObjectiveTo preliminarily observe whether BHT has the protective effect on skin photoaging.MethodsThe hairless mice animal model are adopted,The hairless mice skin of back and ear are irradiated to simulate skin photoaging by long-term UV irradiation.Staining skin biopsies with orcein, under 40 times light microscopy, the grade of dermis elastic fiber hyperplasia are observed, while the changes of the contents of dermis hydroxyproline are measured by biochemical test method in each group of experiment.ResultsThe mixing lamp with UVA and UVB could induce light skin photoaging of hairless mice. The condition of dermis elastic fiber hyperplasia in BHT+UV group have prominent improvement compared with that in UV+irradiation group. The contents of dermis hydroxyproline in BHT+UV group are significantly higher than those in UV+irradiation group.ConclusionFeeding BHT under the dose of this experimental study has the protective effect on light skin photoaging resulting from UV irradiation in hairless mice.
