Evaluation on Effect of Community-Based Intervention on Mental Disorders

Objective To evaluate the effect of community-based intervention on mental disorders in a comunity.Methods These 336 cases of mental disorders diagnosed in a community of Foshan city in July 1998 were given the community-based intervention,such as pharmacotherapy,psy chotherapy,labour treatment and nur sing.After 3-years intervention,315 cases finished that course.Their clinical features,working capacity and quality of life before and after the intervention were compared.Results After the intervention,there were more patients took the recuperative measure,from 63.2% increased to 99.7%,P<0.01.The remission rate was increased from 18.1% to 43.2%,P<0.01.The patients'working capacity were increased,that ratio of full and half working capacity was incr eased from 13.0% to 33.0%,P<0.01.The scores of quality of life measured by COOP/WONCA,QL-index and KPS were markedly higher than before,P<0.01.Conclusion The community-based inter ventions for the mental disor ders may significantly improve both their health status and quality of life.
