Analysis on Attitudes Towards Antemartial Pregnancy and Induced Abortion among Youth in Shanghai

  • Objective To analyze the attitudes towards antemartial pregnancy and induced abortion among the youth who took physical examination for maniage certification.Methods To investigate 5 160 subjects(2 180 female,2180 male)by completing structural questionnaire.Results Those who r egarded antemartial pregnancy and induced abortion as shameful accounted for 11.6%,those who thought it as not good made up 51.7%,29.8% subjects considered that it could be understood,while 6.9% subjects thought that if they would marry it would be OK.The attitudes of female subjects were more conservative than male subjects.The lower the education levels were,the more conser vative they held attitude.Among different occupations,the most conservative were peasants,the most open were individual owners.The attitudes of those who had no definite living goal were more open.The looser the parents supervised their children,the less the parents understood the individual life of children,the more open the attitude towards sexual behavior before marriage held by their parents and friends,the more open the attitude towards pregnancy and abortion before marriage held by friends,the more open the subjects held the attitude tow ards antemartial pregnancy and abortion.Conclusion It was necessary to conduct essential education to help the youth to shape their attitude towards love and marriage.
