Effects of Walking with Weight Bearing on Physiological Function of Pupils and Middle School Students

  • Objective To study the influence of walking with weight bearing on physiological function of pupils and middle school students. Methods Children and adolescents aged 6-14 years were selected as subjects of study. The JAEGER Oxyeon system was used to test the cardiac and pulmonary function of walking subjects. The heart rate, breath frequency, oxygen uptake and energy expenditure were detected continuously when every child walked with different weight bearing. Results The more weight the children and adolescents burdened with, the greater their heart rate, breath frequency, oxygen up-take,oxygen uptake weight ratio, oxygen pulse, breath quotient and energy expenditure ratio were. Conclusion Weight bearing influenced cardiac and pulmonary function of children and adolescents.
