Investigation of Food Lead Contamination and Comprehensive Pollutant Index

  • Objective To detect the lead content of selling foods and the situation of super-standard of lead in Shenzhen City,to investigate the co rrelation between foods consumption habit and intake of lead and to study to evaluate the healthy degree of inhabitant effected by foods pollutant with the comprehensive pollutant index. Methods To detect the lead content and rates of lead super-standard of 2 815 shares of foods in 8 kinds selling in Shenzhen City from 1999 to 2001.To investigate randomly foods structure of 532 inhabitants and set up the comprehensive pollutant index for evaluating correlation between foo ds structure of inhabitants and pabular lead contamination. Results In 8 kinds of selling foods, rates of lead super-standard were averagely 1.39 per cent.Rates of lead super-standard in 8 kinds of foods ranged from 0.19 to 6.50 per cent.Comprehensive pollutant indexes were ranged from 0.15 to 3.77.Foods of high rate of lead super-standard and high edible frequency had high comprehensive pollutant index, and vice versa. Conclusion There is some degree of lead pollution in selling foods of Shenzhen City.Comprehensive pollutant index can effectively evaluate the influence to inhabitant health of foods pollutants.
