Relationship between(PPD)skin test result and CD4 cell count in HIV/AIDS positive patients

  •   Objective   To analyze relation between purified protein derivative PPD skin test result and CD4 cell count in HIV/AIDS positive patients.
Methods   The prospective study was applied.PPD, CD4 and CD8 cell counts were examined between 202 health and 40 HIV/AIDS patients confirmed by western blot.
Results   12.5% of HIV/AIDS patients was PPD positive, meanwhile, 28.2% of health was PPD positive, (P < 0.05).All of the CD4 Cell count below 220/mm3 was PPD negative, the CD4/CD8 below 1 accounted for 90%.
Conclusion   PPD reaction decreases dramatically with the descending of immunity of HIV/AIDS patients. It is caused attention to diagnose tuberculosis in HIV/AIDS patients.
