Expression of apoptosis-related gene in hippocampus of mice after chronic lead exposure

    Abstract
  •   Objective   To explore the effect of chronic lead exposure on the mRNA expression of bcl-2 and bax in hippocampus of mice.
      Methods   RT-PCR techniques were applied to recognize either the mRNA expression of bc-2 and bax in hippocampus of mice exposed to low level of lead.
      Results   Bcl-2 mRNA expression in Pb2+-exposed group exhibited a significantly decline and bax mRNA expression in Pb2+-exposed group exhibited a significantly increase compared with control group.
      Conclusion   Chronic lead exposure results in significant decline of bcl-2 mRNA expression and significantly increase of bax mRNA expression in hippocampus of mice.
